America may be able to lay claim to entrepreneur icons Bill Gates, Sam Walton, and Donald Trump; but France and Ireland beat us to the punch in dictionary credits. Although French in origin, it was an 18th century Irish economist who labeled an entrepreneur as “a person who takes it upon himself to capitalize, invest, and assume accountability for the creation and marketing of new goods or products.”

Given the high attrition rate of network marketing entrepreneurs, it’s high time to “rage against the machine”, and take matters into your own hands.

So What Does It Take To Be A Successful Entrepreneur?

Going into business for yourself seems like a daunting challenge these days with the recession and the tight market, but there will always be some need or new product that will have to be introduced or marketed to the public.

All You Have To Do Is Find It!

People who have become an overnight success are few and far between. It’s even rarer that these successes last; thus, the term “flash in the pan.” On any future venture, therefore, it is always best to build on a solid foundation – a fact that many serious entrepreneurs have taken to heart, which is why multilevel marketing (MLM) and network marketing are making their mark.

Most MLMs or network marketing business opportunities require very little investment, money wise. The foundations of most networks are those nearest and dearest to you, which are – don’t fool yourself – not as easy as it sounds. The time needed to set it up is also minimal and quite flexible. It’s also very eco-friendly in most cases since transportation expenses are cut down. The plus side is that it benefits the manufacturer, the seller, and the consumer all at the same time.

Beware Of Buyer’s Remorse…

If you see an MLM promising you big returns for “recruiting” rather than selling, this is a sign that it is probably a pyramid scheme, so steer clear of it. It’s called a pyramid because of the wide base (downline) and narrow top, and the focus is to widen that base so that the top could get more profits.

Beating the Recession

All successful entrepreneurs don’t wait around for an opportunity to knock on their door – they create one!! It is true that finding a job in today’s market is not an easy task. And while it is easier than taking a risk with your own investments, it is not, however, nearly as rewarding.
