The Truth About MLM
Multilevel marketing (MLM) has long been a supposedly ideal opportunity for those seeking to earn extra income or perhaps to completely replace their job or their career. MLM companies going all the way back to such icons as Amway and Tupperware have offered perspective home-based entrepreneurs the possibility of earning a tremendous income from the comfort of home working just a few hours a week. The literature and the pitch are often quite seductive, and entire armies of people have signed up in hopes of finding fortune and entrepreneurial success.
This is not surprising because the basic principles behind a multilevel marketing MLM organization are quite powerful. Income plans are generally based on the geometric expansion of the “downline” which puts a little bit of every transaction in the collective pockets of the organization that generated it.
The thinking goes that if one person recruits 10 people and those 10 each recruit 10 more and so on and so on, an organization can grow to several thousand people very quickly. With all of those people under you, selling consistently on a daily basis, even if you are receiving only a small percentage of each transaction the numbers—and the dollars—add up very quickly.
