Legitimate network marketing opportunities – these are not contradicting terms. That’s because you really can find network marketing opportunities that are not only legal, but lucrative, as well – although they may not be exactly what you expect them to be.

Catch Phrases

The problem with many network marketing recruitment strategies is that they use catch phrases like “I made $(add figure) in less than two months”, which in some cases may be true. But you will know the difference between one that is legit from one that is not by finding out HOW they made the money.

Add that to the fact that there are opportunities out there that will take you and your money for a ride. Why, you could end up in jail, or at the very least, with you saying goodbye to your earnings.

More likely you will not be making that kind of money in your first two months of network marketing and legitimate network marketing opportunities will not tell you otherwise. It will also take a lot of hard work, but the good thing is that these network marketing opportunities are viable and sustainable.

Knowing the Difference

The most common mistake is to see Pyramid Schemes or Ponzi schemes as network marketing opportunities simply because they have the same basic organizational structure. It does not help that the recruitment tactics that legitimate network marketing opportunities used to be a lot like those of these scams: aggressive and persistent (with, of course, some exceptions like Bernie Madoff). So if you are interested in joining up a network, there are ways to tell if it is above board:

1. There is a product to sell. This is preferably a product that is marketable, or has legitimate market value.

2. The pay-off or return of investment is reasonable. This is a business opportunity which may turn out to be a decent way to make a living, but it will rarely turn out to be as big as, say, hitting the jackpot in the Lotto.

3. The support system is well laid out. You will have people to turn to when things get sticky, and they will keep in touch with you, even if things are okay.

4. There is transparency in all the transactions. If the link on the recruitment or advertisement page leads you to a link that leads you to another link that ends up with you having more questions than answers without having to spend tons of money first, skip it.

5. There will always be a live person at the end of the transactions. The Internet makes communicating easy, so it is reasonable to expect to get in touch with a human being before buying in to what the ads are trying to sell.
